More Than a Prescription: What Makes Rise Wellness & Longevity Different

Medication should be one part of a much bigger conversation. Here's how Rise combines physician-directed GLP-1 care with health coaching, nutrition education, labs, and long-term habit building.

Medical weight loss should be about more than losing pounds. It should be about building a healthier life you can actually maintain.

If you've researched GLP-1 weight loss programs, you've probably noticed that telehealth has made getting weight-loss treatment easier than ever. Fill out a questionnaire. Meet eligibility requirements. Receive a prescription if medically appropriate. Medication arrives at your door.

Convenience is valuable. But at Rise Wellness & Longevity, we believe medication should be one part of a much bigger conversation.

Our goal isn't simply to help you see a smaller number on the scale. We want to help you understand your body, improve the habits that influence your health, protect your progress, and build a strategy for feeling better, performing better, and living healthier for years to come.

That's why our approach combines physician-directed medical care when appropriate with personalized health coaching, nutrition education, lifestyle change, progress tracking, and attention to the health markers that matter beyond body weight.

More than a prescription. A partner in your health.

Losing Weight and Becoming Healthier Aren't Necessarily the Same Thing

Weight is one measurement of health. It isn't the whole picture.

Someone can lose 30 pounds while still struggling with poor nutrition, inadequate protein intake, loss of lean mass, poor sleep, chronic stress, inactivity, abnormal blood sugar or lipids, or habits that make maintaining that weight loss difficult.

That's why we don't believe success should be measured by the scale alone. At Rise, we want to know:

How do you feel? How are you eating? Are you getting enough protein? Are you maintaining or building muscle? How are you sleeping? How active are you? What habits are helping — or hurting — your progress? And what do your health markers tell us?

Modern obesity-care standards likewise emphasize evaluating more than BMI. Recommended assessment can include blood pressure and, when clinically appropriate, laboratory measures such as A1C, glucose, lipid levels, kidney function, and liver-related markers.

That distinction matters. Weight loss is an outcome. Wellness is a much bigger goal.

GLP-1 Medication Can Be Powerful. But Medication Isn't the Entire Plan.

GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide and tirzepatide have changed medical weight management. But medication doesn't automatically teach you how to eat differently, build muscle, manage your environment, improve sleep, create an exercise routine, recognize old behavioral patterns, or develop habits you can maintain long term.

And maintaining progress deserves attention from the beginning.

In the STEP 1 trial extension, participants who stopped semaglutide regained approximately two-thirds of their previous weight loss during the following year, while many cardiometabolic improvements moved back toward baseline. The researchers described obesity as a chronic condition and noted that ongoing treatment may be necessary for maintaining improvements.

That doesn't mean everyone who uses a GLP-1 will regain their weight, nor does it mean everyone needs medication indefinitely. It means we should be thinking about maintenance while you're losing the weight — not after you've already lost it.

At Rise, the question isn't simply "How do we help you lose weight?" It's also: "What are we building during this process that supports your health for the long term?"

Coaching Is Where We Work on the Life Behind the Weight

One of the biggest differences in the Rise experience is our emphasis on personalized one-on-one coaching. Our coaching conversations can address the everyday behaviors that medication alone cannot change:

  • Nutrition and protein intake
  • Food choices and portion awareness
  • Strength training and physical activity
  • Maintaining lean muscle during weight loss
  • Sleep and recovery
  • Stress and daily routines
  • Goal setting and accountability
  • Identifying triggers and barriers
  • Creating healthier routines
  • Supplements and general wellness education within appropriate scope
  • Planning for maintenance rather than continually "starting over"

I'm an ISSA Certified Nutrition Coach, and that training isn't simply about telling someone what foods to eat. ISSA's Nutrition Coach curriculum specifically includes nutrition science, metabolism and energy balance, client assessment, goal-based coaching, behavioral coaching, and sustainable habit change.

That's an important part of the Rise philosophy. Most people already know vegetables are healthier than French fries. The difficult part is turning knowledge into behavior you can consistently repeat in real life.

Research on behavioral weight-management programs supports techniques such as goal setting, self-monitoring, feedback, instruction, and other behavior-change strategies, although long-term weight maintenance remains challenging and no coaching approach can guarantee permanent weight loss.

That's why our coaching isn't about perfection. It's about building repeatable habits.

Why We Look Beyond the Scale — and at Labs

Another important part of comprehensive medical weight management is understanding what's happening inside the body, not simply watching the scale move. When ordered or reviewed by the treating medical provider as clinically appropriate, laboratory testing can help identify or monitor health factors that may otherwise go unnoticed.

Current obesity-care recommendations include consideration of laboratory measures such as A1C and glucose to assess blood-sugar regulation; lipid testing to evaluate cholesterol and triglycerides; liver-related markers to identify potential metabolic liver concerns; and other testing based on a patient's medical history, symptoms, medications, and treatment plan.

Labs may be particularly relevant when evaluating broader treatment options such as medical weight loss, hormone replacement therapy (HRT/TRT), or other physician-directed therapies. The point isn't to order unnecessary testing. It's to recognize that a scale can't tell you everything about someone's health.

How Does Rise Compare With Hims, Hers and Ro?

Large national telehealth companies have helped make medical weight management much more accessible, and their programs have evolved beyond simply shipping medication. But it's worth looking carefully at what you're paying for.

As of September 2026, Hims advertises certain GLP-1 medications starting at $149 per month, but states that the medication price is separate from its required Weight Loss Membership — advertised at $39 for the first month and $149 per month thereafter. Hers currently uses a similar structure, advertising certain medications beginning at $149 per month while requiring a separate Weight Loss Membership.

Ro currently advertises its Body Program at $45 for the first month and $145 per month thereafter, and explicitly states that the cost of GLP-1 medication is not included in that program price. Ro does include services such as provider access, personalized planning, and health coaching.

Prices and program terms can change, and medication costs depend on the medication, eligibility, insurance and prescribing decisions, so comparisons should always be made on an equivalent-treatment basis.

At Rise, we've worked hard to keep our programs competitively priced while building an experience centered around individual attention and whole-person wellness — not simply access to medication. And that's the difference we want people to feel.

Medical Weight Loss Is Only One Piece of the Rise Approach

Sometimes weight is the primary concern. Sometimes it isn't. Fatigue, changes in body composition, difficulty maintaining muscle, sleep, recovery, sexual wellness, aging, nutrition and metabolic health can overlap in complicated ways.

That's why Rise Wellness & Longevity offers access to a broader wellness model that may include, when medically appropriate: GLP-1 medical weight loss, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), peptide therapies, nutrition and health coaching, supplements, skincare, and longevity-focused wellness support.

Prescription therapies aren't appropriate for everyone. Treatment decisions are made by licensed medical providers based on individual medical history, clinical evaluation, laboratory findings when indicated, and applicable prescribing requirements. We're not trying to put every person on every therapy. We're trying to help each person determine what actually makes sense for them.

Our Goal Isn't to Keep You Dieting Forever

We've all seen the cycle: get motivated, go on a restrictive diet, lose weight, life happens, old habits return, weight comes back, start another diet. We want to help interrupt that cycle.

A successful program shouldn't only teach you what to do when motivation is high. It should help you develop strategies that still work when you're busy, stressed, traveling, eating at a restaurant, celebrating a holiday, or simply having a difficult week.

That's why we talk about nutrition, movement, muscle, sleep, stress, accountability and sustainable routines alongside medication. Research has found that behavioral interventions addressing both nutrition and physical activity can provide benefits for weight-loss maintenance, although maintaining substantial weight loss remains difficult and results vary considerably between individuals.

There are no guarantees in weight management. But there is enormous value in using the time you're losing weight to build the behaviors you'll need afterward.

Your First Step Isn't a Prescription. It's a Conversation.

You don't need to know which medication you want. You don't need to know whether a GLP-1, hormone therapy, peptides, coaching — or none of those — is appropriate yet.

Start with a conversation. We'll talk about where you are now, what you've tried before, what isn't working, and where you want your health to go.

Prescription medications require evaluation and approval by a licensed healthcare provider. Individual results vary. Health and nutrition coaching does not replace medical care or medical nutrition therapy from a licensed healthcare professional.
