Common questions

Who is HRT for?

Women in perimenopause or menopause with symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, disrupted sleep, mood changes, brain fog, low libido, or vaginal dryness. Your clinician reviews your history, symptoms, and labs before prescribing.

What is bioidentical hormone therapy?

Bioidentical means the hormone molecule matches the one your body makes, such as 17-beta estradiol and micronized progesterone. Modern practice generally favors transdermal estradiol with micronized progesterone where indicated.

Is hormone therapy safe?

Risk depends on your age, time since menopause, personal and family history, and the route and type of hormone used. That assessment is individual and is exactly what your intake and consult are for. Read our review of the 2026 menopause hormone therapy study for more context.

Can women take testosterone?

Low-dose testosterone is used in women for energy, libido, and lean mass, at a fraction of a male dose, with monitoring.
